Where there's a will....

3/15/2012

"thy will be done"

We say it each and every time we pray the Lord's Prayer, but are we really comfortable with this statement?
I think many of us are, believing that His will is to do good to us (as we understand goodness).  But the reality of this statement is that we are praying against ourselves.  Who doesn't have some idea or plan or "will" for how they want to see the circumstances of life shape up?  I know as the brackets are published and "march madness" gets into full swing I have a will to see the OSU buckeyes soar (and this year it might actually happen).  Still that's a pretty benign example.  what about when the diagnosis is malignant, or worse terminal?  What am I supposed to do when I do not and more to the point cannot know the will of God? This hidden will of God can be downright scary. What should I do then in the face of the unknown will of God?

Run to what you do know!

We know that God has revealed to us His good and gracious will.  In the suffering and death of Jesus Christ God has made clear what he wills.  He paid the debt that our broken wills owed, placing The Son, Jesus the Savior, on the cross.  Then made more certain the promise of that debt removed in the resurrection of that same Son three days later.  The will of God is Christ in your place, your life for His.

In the midst of our troubled temporary world filled with trials and temptation, there is no reason to question God's will for you.  He has given the answer "God desires all mankind to me saved and come the knowledge of THE TRUTH"  Jesus Is the way, THE TRUTH, and the life.  Cling to the will of God you do know.  Where there's His will....the way leads to forgiveness, life and salvation for YOU!

My family and I have been at Prince of Peace since March of 2010.  We live in West Salem where the family is active in the community.  When I'm not playing with my kids, teaching or studying at church, I enjoy golf and music, and the Cleveland Browns. As you can imagine these things regularly overlap.
